Now training with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He defended four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
